Technical Specs: Helios Suit MK-I

Power: Linear Resonance Reactor
-It's energy is produced from a standing electromagnetic wave traveling through a fluid (synthesized by Bubble). The fluid slowly decomposes into seemingly nothing, magnifying the wave in the process. Increasing the power involves changing the frequency (color) and the length of its resonance chamber. The shorter the wave, the higher the power output, but the more unstable it becomes. Shortening the wave until it destabilizes is known as White-Lining, and briefly produces an insane amount of power, at the cost of a complete reactor shutdown and requires a 1 hour cool-down and reset period.
Located along the spine, with Indicator panels located across the suit to reflect the reactors current color and state.

Added Functions:
Low efficiency Magic Emulator Lens:
-This lens, devised by Malcom and synthesized by Bubble, uses an extremely high-power laser in order to focus the raw energy into a useable form. It is capable of mimicking and maintaining basic spells such as telekinesis, but drains anywhere from 40%-90% of the reactors maximum output, more complex spells can be briefly achieved by either white-lining the reactor or draining the reserve power.

VTOL Folding Wings:
-The wings and tail stabilizers can fan out to help maintain stable high-speed flight. Maximum speed is approximately 800 mph using 90% of the reactors capacity. Added armor such as the removable muzzle plate is required for safe operation at these speeds. Full Combat Armor limits wings to low speed operation.

Combat Armor Mounting Points:
While designed for civilian use, the possibility of combat cannot be discounted. As a result, the armor has been re-fitted with mounting points for heavy armor.

Biography: Axiom Gryphon
When he was younger, Axiom Gryphon always dreamed of what it would be like to be something other than an earth pony.
He just couldn't get over the fact that he was fated to never have magic or flight, but that still didn't stop him from trying. Born as the son of an engineer, his gift for machines and metal soon became apparent as he grew up. It's only natural that he soon was working for the Royal Research Division. He had became very curious into the nature of magic, a common interest held by 2 others.

During the course of his work, he met Bubble, a Biochemist who's pretty outgoing, but is bit of a joker and Malcom, a scholar of magical theory who, while quite shy in public, is very bold in his research. The three of them soon became fast friends, and began helping each other pursue their own goals. With their help, the final pieces of the puzzle began coming together and the Helios MK-I prototype was completed. As the years went by, and hostilities from the changelings increased, Gryphon began using his armor for civil-defense, and soon earned the nickname Gun Gryphon.
But the stories to follow will have to wait for a different time.

My Notes:
Axiom Gryphon AKA:GunGryphon is one of 3 characters that are inter-twined in this setting. The others, a pegasus named Bubble and a unicorn named Malcom each had their own methods, but are united in that they want to become more than they currently are.
Gryphon used machines to attain his dream, while Bubble uses biochemistry and Malcom wields advanced magical theories. Despite their strengths, they didn't gain their success alone, and it wouldn't be possible without them working together. The other two's full stories will have to wait for another time.

Man, I spent way longer on this piece than I really would have liked, this bit sat unfinished for well over a month and a half because I couldn't get around to it. It started as a sketch and it snowballed like mad soon after. Countless hours were spent painting each part and layer manually. That muzzle in particular took forever to get into descent shape.

In other news, I'm afraid that this will be the last major art piece for a long time, as I'll be very busy for the next 2 years and wont have access to my tools. I'll explain more in a journal to come.
